Famous Interior Designers

Famous Interior Designers

9/07/2008 02:47:00 PM 0
Despite what you may think famous interior designers are not thin on the ground, and there are a great many of them gracing the halls of fame today. They might not be as well known or as prolific as some artists and fashion designers are, but they do exist nevertheless. The reason for this almost unheard of fame though I believe, can be solely attributed to the fact that interior designing didn't really take off until the latter half of the twentieth century.

In fact until the twentieth century there weren't necessarily any famous interior designers. Yes, there were famous interior designers for different era's but fame as we understand it didn't come until very recently when there was a spate of interest in all things DIY. And since interior decorating and some of its off shoots can be considered DIY that's when the general public aware of interior decorating. And it wasn't until a few years after that that different interior designers started to make a name for themselves amongst the general public.

For the most part these famous interior designers gained their fame through the usual means of achieving fame, through the TV. They appeared in numerous TV home improvement programs, and they held numerous, televised DIY programs and basically got their face well recognizable to the public. And that's how famous interior designers of the last decade of the twentieth century achieved more than a modest fame.

There are of course more famous interior designers than the ones you see on TV. Others who might be camera shy might be just as good as or even better at what they do than the more media savvy interior decorators.

Then there are the famous interior designers who have been around for what seems like forever and who have made a household name for themselves through their unrelenting efforts. These interior decorators are much lauded in their world and are the pundits from whom the new generation of interior decorators learn their craft.

So as you look for the names of famous interior designers you need to realize that you won’t be able to find all of them just because you look through interior magazines. Sometimes these famous interior designers like to keep their fame under control.

Famous interior designers aren't legion but there are a goodly number of them, and they all have talent and they all have one thing in common. They have a good eye for design and they can design a room to make the very best out of all its features. Okay, so that was two things they all have in common!
Interior Design History

Interior Design History

9/07/2008 02:45:00 PM 0
The topic of interior design history is a fascinating one and something that should really be explored at leisure. There are so many things to go through that you'd be surprised at just how long and colorful that history is. From the wild seventies to the bold eighties to the toned down nineties interior design history has come a long way. But that's not all.

If you dig deeper you'll also find that interior design history goes back longer than just the sixties or the seventies. It spans centuries and it spans continents, and it is admittedly one of the more fascinating aspects of human life. You can tell a lot about a culture by the interior designs for that particular time, and you can tell a lot about the people by how they have gone about designing their homes.

No two people are alike and this is also reflected in the way they furnish their homes. Interior design history through the ages has shown us that two people living in the same era and even next door to each other might not always display the same outlook of society that a general broader view might give you.

For instance you might like to have more of an elegant and traditional look and feel to your home whereas your neighbor might prefer the well-lived in look and shun the elegance you so desire. Taken separately what you get is a cross cut of one part of the social outlook for that age. And an interior design history student of the future might be forgiven for jumping to the conclusion that society during our time was either obsessed with perfection, or conversely that society had deteriorated to such an extent that homes were kept looking like pig-sties!

The interpretation of what they come across is entirely up to their discretion and what society is like at that period of time as well. So we as the interior design history students will also place different connotations on what we perceive as the reasons for a particular look in a particular era. But there's no doubting that no matter what conclusions we come to there's nothing more fascinating to look at than our interior design history.

There is just one thing to beware of in looking at the interior design history. And that is not to decide that interior designs from that or any other period of time did not have originality and initiative.
Interior Decor

Interior Decor

9/07/2008 02:44:00 PM 0
Choosing new interior decor to go with your old interior decor isn't always easy. There are times when the decor you're trying to match is so old and out of date that nothing you do will ever bring it back into fashion. Then again there's always the fact that your old interior decor might just be too old and worn to be of much use to you.

Whether you're trying to match some new interior decor to your old interior decor, or whether you're simply trying to refurbish your old interior decor, you might find yourself with the wrong end of the stick. Yours just might be a Herculean task and you might find yourself having to battle monsters at every turn. Monsters like Cost, Unavailability and Out-of-Stock might become bosom companions with your headaches.

So wherever possible you should try to get as close a match as possible to your existing interior decor and try and be satisfied with it. Unfortunately if you've got the redecorating bug in your blood then the last thing you might want to do is to settle for second best. So unless you're very attached to the old interior decor and old room design, you might want to think about going in for a newer look.

And this is where the fun part comes in and you get into the real nitty-gritty of redecorating. Then again if you just go with the flow and get your new room design sorted out you might be pleasantly surprised to find that you're coming across some interior decor which complements your old interior decor when you're going shopping.

Of course choosing new interior decor isn't always going to be easy if you're on the path to dumping out the window all of your old decor. Not for anything else of course but because you're probably going to want to choose a completely new decoration scheme for your room. This in itself can be a big job and something that's best done with a little bit of forethought.

However, after you get all of that sorted, all you need to do is to choose your new interior decor and cart it all back home. You might want to think about the best way to showcase your new interior décor so that it has pride of place in your newly repainted and refurbished room. Choosing new interior decor is the fun part of decorating and that's the truth of it!
Decorating On A Budget

Decorating On A Budget

9/07/2008 02:27:00 PM 0
If you love decorating and you love a challenge then you'll love the challenge of decorating on a budget. There's nothing quite like fighting your impulses to buy everything you see just so that you keep to your budget, and trying to get everything you need to decorate your house without breaking your budget. It is a losing battle I can tell you that much. Sometimes the desire to buy the amazing things you see in the home improvement stores can be almost overwhelming. There isn't too much that you can do about that except to move on as quickly as possible on to the next item on your list. That said, decorating on a budget can be quite fun if you can manage to loosen up a bit and not drool all over the expensive items. There are many inexpensive items you can buy that will look like their expensive cousins if they're displayed properly. And that's really the challenge of decorating on a budge, the ability to take an inexpensive item and be able to disguise its true worth and make it look like a hundred bucks instead. Then you also have the challenge of actually staying within your budget. For me now, that's more of a challenge than anything else as I regularly tend to go overboard. Unfortunately if you're decorating on a budget then the very last that you want to do is to go overboard. If you do spend more than is feasible on one particular piece then you can be sure that everything else on your list is going to get thrown off and no matter how hard you try it will be difficult to get everything back on track. The only way that you could even justify going way over budget for one piece of furnishing is if the quality is exceptional and if you're were thinking of making it the key piece of the room. If that's the case then you can always get away with something as your other pieces will necessarily be less expensive. In this case what you need to do is to highlight this expensive piece and use the other pieces to enhance it. Decorating on a budget need not mean that you have to cut down on quality to get everything that you want. As you are decorating on a budget it can also be fun, and creatively undertaken, it can also be done with flair.

Villa Alamanda

7/13/2008 02:01:00 PM 0
Villa Alamanda, situated 8 minutes south-east of the cultural town of Ubud, is approached through the traditional Balinese woodcarvers' village of Tengkulak. Perched high on a ridge above the Petanu River, across the forest canopy, the graceful architecture blends contemporary elegance with ethnic charm. Designed to harmonise with the environment, this exclusive villa comfortably sleeps up to eight people in four stylish and spacious air-conditioned bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom.

Elegant teak furniture is complemented by clean lines, natural colours and local artwork. A sizeable, open-air lounge and dining terrace overhangs the jungle, creating a real feeling of space. Villa Alamanda presents tropical living at its best.

The property is built on the side of a hill; the living area and bedrooms are all on the same level with steps leading down into the garden. A large gate opens onto a paved parking area, where indigenous ‘serai' stone walls are complemented with timeworn statues. These jovial characters greet the guests as they step into the cool interior of the villa through a set of antique double doors. Inside, the hallway extends towards a T-shaped wooden terrace. Furnished with antiques, this breezy open-air living area runs the length of the house and boasts a delightful dining section that juts out over the tranquil gardens as they tumble into the steep ravine. The back garden is laid out with the overhanging frangipani and three mulberry root loungers to provide a gracious resting area.

The lower garden and pool area provide the perfect spot for relaxation. The garden is equipped with a large bale with plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy the afternoons in luxurious style. The garden area is large enough for children to play or for you to entertain friends. At night, the house, gardens, soaring forest and pool area are lit up by a festival of lights, presenting guests with a dramatic sense of serenity.

Why Villa Puri Indah?

Why Villa Puri Indah?

6/06/2008 03:16:00 PM 0
As there are literally hundreds of “villas” in southern Bali, why should you choose Villa Puri Indah over other 3 or 4 bedroom villas?

In the first place, VILLA is the most misused and abused word in Bali as it is used to describe almost anything that is not a hotel room.

Villa Puri Indah is a large, privately owned, stand alone villa, set in large gardens with a separate staff house for Suwito and Bon. It is not part of a “villa” complex which are not villas at all.

We are also not part of a rental group where staff in all the villas are recruited and trained in the same hotel-staff mould by the managing company. They will advertise “Butler service” and the like. We don’t have that as we believe our guests don’t want a Jeeves running around after them. They want to relax.

Many of these villas, as with the “villa” complexes have a shift-change at 3pm just like a hotel. We offer a family villa with the same people looking after you for the duration of your stay

Some villas offer a vehicle as part of the package which usually means they are a long way from anywhere. Some agents offer free cars too, but as they mark the price up $30.00 to $40.00 per day the”free” claim is a tad misleading.

Most people who come to Bali want to be close to a beach, but hardly any villas are anywhere near a beach, and of those that are, almost all are at places too dangerous to swim.

Villa Puri Indah is 100m from Legian Beach with direct beach access through the Maharta hotel.

This part of Legian beach is broad and close to a patrolled area.

Many privately owned villas are not well built or maintained and nor are they well run. Villa Puri Indah is and we have plenty of guest comments to back up this claim.

Villa Puri Indah was built as a family Holiday home when our children were in their teens, not as a “villa for rent” with the sterility that implies. Puri Indah has that comfortable, homely feel with staff trained by the owners in the relaxed manner of New Zealanders but the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Some villas seem attractively priced but at the end of your stay there are so many extras added to the nightly rate, such as shopping charges, mark-ups on ingredients bought for prepared meals etc. that they end up expensive.

Our rates reflect fair value for what we offer and there are no extras except toll calls (cost plus 20%) and very reasonable cooking charges, which actually go to the staff as a tip. Any rental cars, etc are charged at cost.

Villa Kemah Tinggi of Bali

Villa Kemah Tinggi of Bali

5/30/2008 02:54:00 PM 0
In today's world privacy and space are precious commodities, and good service rarely expected let alone understood. Kemah Tinggi excels at all three. Space and exclusivity are matched by immaculate service which caters to every guest, adult and child. It is perfect for those who seek the ultimate in privacy, for parents wanting a relaxing alternative for holidaying with children, or simply for those who prefer to take life at their own pace. You set the agenda & the choice is always yours.

Tucked away on a beautiful stretch of Bali's southwestern coast, Kemah Tinggi may be a little out of town but it is wholly to its benefit. Away from the overdeveloped sprawl of Kuta & the slick sophistication of Seminyak, this 4 bedroom seaside villa is set to become a destination in its own right. At once sophisticated & simple, intimate & casual, it loses nothing of its Balinese heart through its contemporary styling. This is cool tropical chic at its best, a lush private home that's a real find.

All decadent pampering, impeccable service, laid-back living & frangipani strewn lawns, Kemah Tinggi is ideal for those looking to escape a hectic lifestyle. Extremely child-friendly, here at last is a glamorous and sophisticated villa where families with even the youngest children can truly relax without traveling with the paraphernalia associated with family holidays. Amongst the villa's many special features are a solid pool fence and stair gates which can be installed if required, safe and full-sized cots, a wide-ranging and tempting children's menu, and staff who delight in and are attentive to young guests.

Just as ideal for couples or friends seeking to escape, Kemah Tinggi offers 4 master suites of equal importance with luxurious netted beds, spacious decks and indoor/outdoor bathrooms. Here is a private hideaway where every comfort has been considered and simplicity is of the essence. Beds are incredibly comfortable; showers can be taken in the sunshine, hidden amongst banana palms & heliconia; and shady terraces offer plenty of quiet corners to curl up with a book or to enjoy a massage. Lush, languid and luxurious, this is a haven which combines the comfort & intimacy of a private home with a level of service more commonly associated with the finest hotels. More than this, guests at Kemah Tinggi will revel in an ambience impossible to recreate in a luxury hotel - polished yet relaxed, spacious yet intimate, both unpretentious and utterly private.

Welcome to paradise - it's all yours.
The Nusa Dua of Bali

The Nusa Dua of Bali

5/30/2008 02:51:00 PM 0
In 1974 the government concocted the Nusa Dua Experiment, calling for the construction of luxury hotels along the East Coast of the arid, thinly populated Bukit Peninsula. By offering foreign investors 50-year leases with maximum incentives and tax holidays, it was hoped the Nusa Dua resort would accommodate and contain the surge in visitors. Nusa Dua constituted a major shift to elite tourism, planned as an isolated, self-contained ghetto that would allow visitors the experience of Bali but keep their interactions with the natives to a minimum.

Because relatively few of the island’s 2.7 million people live near the sea and few tourists want to stay anywhere else, the plan looked really good on paper. But the resort was very slow to develop. It was only in the 1980s that Nusa Dua finally came into its own; it wasn’t until late in the decade those tourist projections were met.

In this Mediterranean-style, self-contained hotel resorts tourists can sun their near-naked bodies on white sandy beaches without scandalizing anyone and watch abbreviated pseudo-events performed in expensive hotel foyers. Those with a spirit of adventure may day-trip around the island in air-conditioned buses to pre-selected villages and tourist sites, leaving untainted the rest of Eden.

The early 1990s brought a more formal experiment in “village tourism,” wherein groups of tourists move discreetly in small numbers with a minimum of intrusion, making direct, low-impact contact with the Balinese. The idea is being tried in three Balinese villages, Jatiluwih (rice-planting and fabulous views), Penglipuran (a nearly Bali Aga village in Bangli), and Sebatu (woodcarving and other art forms).

Guests from the southern hotels experience something “real” by joining day or weekend excursions to these villages. This cultural tourism is really just an extension of enclave-style tourist development, consistent with the policy of limiting and canalizing tourist development to minimize its impact on Balinese society.
Boutique Hotels

Boutique Hotels

5/30/2008 02:46:00 PM 1
Boutique hotels and resorts in Bali cater to those looking for more than just a standard hotel room in a large five star hotel chain. Small and intimate, one gets to know the real Bali without sacrificing luxury. Unique hotels such as Sanur’s Tanjung Sari, once the only place to stay in Bali, and Ubud’s Campuan Hotel, built on the site of Walter Spies’s home, have been part of the Bali’s tourism scene for a long time.

Boutique hotels in Bali have been designed by Australian architect Peter Muller. Muller, who was the architect for today’s Bali Oberoi in the 70’s when it was still known as Kayu Ayu, perfected his vision of combining traditional Balinese architecture with a modern luxury resort. Many architects in Bali have followed Peter Muller’s style.

The Four Seasons Resort Bali, which has been named by numerous magazines as the best resort in the world, has been clearly influenced by Muller’s vision. This resort of nearly 150 individual villas each with its own pool, although large for a boutique hotel, it is the large grounds and the layout of the villas which give the impression that you have the entire resort and a private view of the entire island alone.

In the Sayan Gorge Bali there is Kupu Kupu Barong, a striking boutique hotel. For those truly looking for local character several new luxuries resorts often run by traditional princes have sprung up closer to Ubud in recent years. In particular one should take note of Ibah and which overlooks the Campuan River.

The royal family of Ubud has been hosting guests since early this century and one can feel this in the ambience and service. This combined with a host nearby temples and activities such as dance and drama available to visitors in Bali’s self declared artist’s village Ubud, offer a wonderful experience in the lap of luxury.

For those in search of a beach side boutique resort, there is in Candi Dasa East Bali, The Watergarden. Lorin, a new chain of luxury hotels, has also taken over management of the Saba Bai Resort Bali just east of Batubulan on the coast. Here you are in the real Bali totally surrounded by rice fields, coconut trees, Balinese villages and the great waves crashing on the beach. It is rare to find this sort of isolation.

Another tiny beach resort is the Tugu in the surfing beach Canggu north of Kuta and Legian. Here the owner has put on display his own collection of art thereby creating a special ambience.

If you have the money and want to really relax and enjoy yourself while visiting Bali, make sure that you reward yourself by staying in one or more of the world’s best resorts.

Bali Hotels Or Bali Villas

Dear Reader,
One says that traveling is not an exact science, to combine between their cultures, traditions, countries and different languages sometimes are not easy. Trust an expert, contact your reputable travel agent may be important.

Most people come to Bali want to see and enjoy its arts and cultures, its fabulous nature’s views, its nice beaches, its friendly people, for pure relaxation and some for business and stay on. Whatever is one’s aim, the accommodation is one of the most important aspects in order to get the comforts and memorable holiday.

There are a myriad of accommodations to choose from in Bali, from five-star luxury Bali hotels or Bali Villas to budget one just a few dollars a night. Villa Cemara in Bali

5/22/2008 04:01:00 PM 0

Tucked between a five star hotel and an ancient temple, the 60-metre frontage of Villa Cemara edges the golden sands of Bali’s oldest beach resort.

At Cemara Beach, relaxation, water sports and local life intermingle like shuffled cards. Morning beachcombers watch dive boats heading out to the offshore island of Nusa Penida, where upsurging currents bring mola-mola and other rare sea creatures.

As sun worshippers settle into their lounges, fisherman in pandanus hats wade into the shallows with lines and nets, windsurfers skim past and parasailors glide overhead. A kilometre out, silver waves break over the reef that shelters Sanur from undertows and crashing surf.

Now and then, processions wind across the sands as local families and communities hold ceremonies at the water’s edge or at tiny temples shaded by sea almonds and coconut palms. After dark, the sound of gamelan practice mixes with western music from scattered café’s, candles glow on restaurant tables and the lamps of the night fishermen shine beneath the stars.

Villa Cemara is available for short-stay private rental, and is the ideal alternative to exclusive world-class hotel accommodation. Absolute beachfront, exquisite uninterrupted sea views, international cuisine, attentive service - combined with the security and sophistication of a private residence make Villa Cemara the perfect location for the discerning traveller.
Private beachfront villa :

Close your eyes - just for a moment ….
Dinner for two. Your private table is away - overlooking the long, white sands of Sanur. Palm trees rustle and candles dance on a tropical breeze. The sun sets deep in a reddening sky - stars mirror themselves in the warm waters of Lombok Straight. Your food is exquisite, the wine superb.

And what of tomorrow? Does it really matter?
A lazy chat over lunch with friends, or the peace and quiet of your own space and time - you will soon warm to the very essence of Bali - Cemara style.

Luxury group accommodation :

You, and up to ten of your guests, are invited to stay at Cemara. Each will experience personal service that is world-class. Attentive yet unobtrusive. You will judge us not only by what we do for you, but also for when we stay away. Anticipating your needs and dedicated to providing you with absolute comfort and personal service, our English speaking staff are trained to ensure a truly 5 star stay at Cemara.

A feature of every stay at Villa Cemara is the superb cuisine. Our chef will craft meals to your requirements, incorporating a blend of local delicacies and western favourites.

Drawing from the spiritual roots of the Sanur district, Villa Cemara takes its name from the native Cemara tree that shades the temple on the southern side of the Villa. Designed by acclaimed Balinese architect Popo Danes, Villa Cemara blends the traditional with the ultra-modern, incorporating facilities you have come to expect in life. The private grounds spread out along the beachfront - but you are never too far from the very heart of Sanur Village.

Beachfront luxury villa in Bali:

Renowned for its bohemian artistic heritage and enduring appeal, Bali’s Sanur Beach has long been regarded as a destination for the discerning world traveller. Now, at Villa Cemara you can complement traditional, tropical open-air living with beachfront luxury and world class personal service.

Escape to Cemara - the very best of both worlds.

Imagine bathing amongst scented flowers - at one with nature under the tropical night sky. The private, open-air bathrooms of Cemara are renowned for their luxury and sensuality. There are just five beachfront Villa Suites for guests at Cemara, each with its own open- air bathroom, private balcony and each with a stunning view across the sands of Sanur … to the ocean and islands beyond.

Beachfront Villa Suites:

Inside, each beachfront Villa Suite has been individually tailored. Fine Balinese furnishings, original artworks and wooden sculptures, please all who come to stay.

Relax here, ‘at home’, or wander to the beachfront Pavilion, the spiritual heart of Villa Cemara. This beautiful, open-air building, with its “Alang Alang” thatched roof, is a focus of daily life at Cemara - elevated this elegantly crafted pavilion seems to float like a raft come to rest. This is traditional Balinese architecture at its best, defining yet not enclosing space, open to the shifting light and the salt tang carried on the breeze. A place to dream alone or socialize, it separates the private gardens, sundeck and pool from the vast expanse of sea and sky beyond.

The choice is yours to take.
Most come to Cemara to get away. But for guests who need to stay in touch, Villa Cemara is equipped with - IDD phone, fax, e-mail, printer and copier.

Chauffeur and self-drive services are available to take you to anywhere in Bali that you want to go. Villa Cemara is just 15 minutes from Bali’s International Ngurah Rai Airport, 35 minutes from the mountain forests of Ubud and 25 minutes from the bustling Kuta & Seminyak districts.

Recreational activities in Bali :
In between calls back home, you may choose to relax or recharge. Our staff can arrange a host of recreational activities. Sunset beach walks, reef snorkelling, guided mountain-bike tours, white-water rafting, sailing, diving, cultural tours, massage, yoga or pamper yourself with a tropical spa treatment.

Villa Cemara is staffed with an internationally trained chef and waiting staff who are able to craft exquisite meals to guest requirements.
Exquisite meals to your requirements:

Each evening during a guest’s stay, the staff will discuss and agree the food and beverage menu for the following day - suggesting local favourites and dishes incorporating in-season produce while taking account of guests’ personal preferences and special dietary requirements. When the menu is agreed, the staff will calculate the approximate Indonesian Rupiah cost of the ingredients and collect this money from the guests. Each morning, the staff will go to market and purchase the produce and other items necessary to prepare the agreed menu. They will collect receipts for each item purchased and provide an accounting of their expenditure as often as guests require.

As a guide, 4 adult guests will require around Indonesian Rupiah 400,000 per day for food.

Wine, beer and other spirits are available in Bali and can be purchased as required by our staff. However, wine and spirits are rather expensive due to the high import duties on alcohol in Indonesia, so it is recommended that these items be purchased by guests prior to arrival, or at duty free on arrival.

How To Choose A Florida Vacation Rental

How To Choose A Florida Vacation Rental

5/22/2008 03:57:00 PM 0
by: John Macrae
I've owned a villa near Disney for many years and having rented it form time to time, we came to realize from chatting with our guests that one of their biggest challenges is how to choose the vacation rental villa that is right for them in the first place! This article reflects their experience and hopefully sharing it with you will make your choice easier...

Is a vacation rental villa right for me??

Whether you are seeking a magical Disney World Vacation or an active family holiday, a Florida vacation rental villa is one of the most flexible options available to you. Many visitors decide on a hotel or motel room. This can appear to be the cheapest option but has several disadvantages. As I'm sure you know if you wanted a suit of rooms in a hotel that offered all the facilities of a vacation rental villas, you would spend many hundreds of dollars per night! Limited space, limited bathrooms, neighbor noise etc - we've all been there! The convenience and space of a vacation rental villa not only make for a much more enjoyable vacation for everyone but when things go wrong these were an important factor for one of our guests when 3 of her 4 children became ill shortly after arriving. She was so pleased to have chosen a luxury vacation rental villa with the space and convenience of 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms as it meant that the whole family was not wakened when one member had to get up frequently during the night!

Convenience:

Probably the biggest advantage of your vacation rental - you can come and go as you please and do what you like, when you like. You might feel like a day by the pool on your own when the rest of the family go out, and that's exactly what you can have - moreover, its you by the pool and no one else to share it with - bliss!

Location:

This is the another important one factor in choosing your vacation rental! Its important to choose a luxury vacation rental villa that is close to the attractions that you will be visiting frequently. First time visitors have little idea of the scale of the Orlando area and the whole thing can be more than a little daunting. Its made even more confusing by the vast choice of vacation rental villas available and the lack of clear details on their location. We know that this has resulted in some families traveling long distances to get from their chosen location - not ideal. That's why we have clear links to maps from our vacation rental villa details pages. We want you to be able to plan your vacation and spend as little time as possible in the car!

Quality

We spent some time recently viewing and inspecting Florida vacation rental villas. The pictures on their web sites presented the villa very well in most cases but it soon became clear that they had been taken a very long time ago. Many of the villas were very tired, showed heavy wear and little attention to maintaining a comfortable environment for their guests. They were certainly far form the luxury vacation rental villas they were being marketed as! These problems showed up much more in the properties where the owners had clearly taken little interest and were managed by property management agencies (Large or small, and who, in turn rent them to the large holiday companies). This is one reason why we update the pictures of our properties each year (several times a year in fact!). This gives our guests the confidence to know that what they see is what they will get. Whilst booking direct with the owner does not guarantee quality, it does give you the opportunity to ask if the photos on the site truly represent the condition of a particular vacation rental villa today.

Check in/out

This is often overlooked as one of these things that has to be done but be careful. Check in and out is not usually at the villa! Its normally at the management company office where you have to wait in line with everyone else that booked through the same company. This means that you have to drive to and find the office from the airport. We know of offices that are over 15 miles from the vacation rental. Check the driving distances and times from airport to office and from office to your villa. (Be aware that if the office is in Kissimmee, it can be very busy and take a long time especially in the early evening). Note: We have an electronic access system so our guests can drive direct to their chosen luxury villa and let themselves in. The benefit of this system is clear - and you have no keys to lose or hand back.

Locality

What we mean here is the area surrounding the villa. Careful examination of the photos of some villas will show where they have been doctored to hide undesirable features. One of the favorites is to block out the lower areas of screened pool enclosures to hide the fact that there are many others very close to the villa. We do not enhance our photos. Check carefully or ask if the pool area is overlooked.

Games rooms

Some vacation rental villas advertise a games room with all kinds of entertainments. If this is something that you want to have in your villa, be sure to inquire whether it is properly air conditioned. The reason for this is that some owners have simply locked the garage door and installed a carpet and a pool table or foosball table and called it a games room. Its fine in December but impossible to use comfortably for much of the year.

Equipment

Check whether the equipment you need is 'included' or 'available' and know the difference between these terms. Included usually means that the item is included in the rent for the villa. Its important to know that 'available' usually means that the item is available but you will be expected to pay an extra charge for it. For example, a gas barbecue will cost you between $35 and $50 per week to hire (+ sales tax). A cot, baby seat or stroller can be the same each! That can make a significant unexpected dent in your pocket - check unless the information is explicit!

Summary

We hope that this guide helps you make your choice of vacation rental villa much easier. We think that vacation rental villas are exceptional value for money but there are some traps which we have highlighted. Whilst we realize that checking all these details might be a pain, we hope that it will help you have a much better vacation!

Bali Hotels Or Bali Villas

5/18/2008 07:27:00 PM 1

The main tourist hub is in the southern triangle formed by Sanur, Kuta and Dusa Dua. For those who prefer the comforts of home and the relaxation of the beach, this is a good starting place. Other beach areas are Lovina in the north, Candi Dasa in the east and Canggu and Yeh Gangga in the west.

If you are a sun’s lover, then stay at Kuta (a wild and crazy kind of place) or its quieter sister beaches Legian and Seminyak up the road, Candi Dasa on the east coast, Sanur and Nusa Dua in the south or Lovina in the north. If you are a culture’s lover, then stay in Ubud in central Bali.

Thus for your accommodation what do you prefer Bali Hotels or Bali Villas? Both hotels and villas shall give you some advantages. For those who want a hotel that has a nice beach front or hotel by the sea or a room that facing the ocean, Bali Hotel is an easier choice, because most of luxury Bali Hotels that line the coast of Bali. There are plentiful of hotels either in building style or in Balinese style bungalow, both offer modern comports and excellent service, but without maximum privacy. Most Bali Hotels have one or more restaurants and bars that offer a wide range of local and international cuisines. Also sports and Spa facilities are usually available like tennis, billiards, squash, fitness center, games room, and some with golf course.

For those who want to enjoy a total privacy and perhaps a perfect Balinese lifestyle, stay at a private villa is a right choice. One can enjoy the luxury of a beautiful private villa with air-conditioned bedrooms and tropical bathrooms to dream about, spacious living and dining areas and spacious terraces, a lush tropical garden with your own private swimming pool, and well-trained house staff to take care of everything around the clock. And you’ll appreciate the comfort and informality you can only experience in a private home.

Instead of staying in hotel rooms (bed, two chairs, dressing table, TV set and telephone, wardrobe, small bathroom), your family will enjoy this truly Balinese experience. And you have much more space, more informality, more privacy, and more personal service than even the best hotel can provide.

You can even save up to 50% - 70% of meals and drinks if you stay at a private villa with full furnished kitchen if you decide a self-service vacation. Order your groceries, favorite snacks and drinks to be brought for you at the local supermarket or wine wholesaler. You’ll be surprised at the low cost when you pay the same prices as locals do. Or just ask the villa manager to do so, and a trained cook (with reasonable extra cost) to prepare you delicious meals or any special diet. And also Bali’s 21% tax & service charge and airport transfer is included on villa rental.

There are numbers of luxury villas at Bali’s hotels & resorts. If you prefer a hotel environment and services and don’t mind to pay inflated prices for accommodation and food & beverages, you can also book some villa-like accommodation at one of luxury Bali’s hotels through a reliable travel agent and still enjoy savings and extra benefits.

So, do not hesitate to choose the island of Bali in Indonesia for your memorable holiday. Bali is the most enchanting travel destination in the world, its year-round pleasant climate, its friendly people; its fabulous nature’s views, its nice beach and the absence of major criminal activities guarantee a completely relaxing stay. Because of the physical beauty of the island and its wide variety of attractions, Bali has become for many experienced travelers the “ultimate island”.

Go online and search your preferred Bali hotels or Bali villas or contact your reliable travel agent. The wide choice can be confusing especially for first time visitors, and it’s sometimes difficult to select the right Bali Hotels or Bali Villas. So just let your travel agent knows your personal needs and preferences that he can recommend those hotels or villas it feels will suit you best.

Thanks you reader and have a nice day.
